The following activities will commemorate ANZAC Day in Woodend.

  • At first light, 6.30AM, there will be an informal assembly to hear a bugler play Last Post and to share The Ode to the Fallen.   If you're interested in the full dawn service experience, we recommend the Mount Macedon ANZAC Day dawn service - find details at https://www.mtmacedondawnservice.org/
  • A street march will commence at 11.00AM from the top of the High Street slip road.  The march pauses at the clock tower for wreath laying, and continues on to the RSL, 32 Anslow Street.
  • At 12.00 midday, the march will be followed by a commemorative service at the RSL.  Guest speaker is local Ruth deJong who will talk about the experiences and correspondence of her grandfather, A.S. Chidlow, who landed at Gallipoli and later lost a leg on the Western Front.
  • Refreshments will be available afterwards at the Woodend RSL, 32 Anslow Street, Woodend.
